Bright straw-green. Fresh and precise, offering focused aromas and flavors of green apple, quince and lavender and a Riesling-like stony overlay. Surprisingly rich and dense for a Sylvaner wine, but the high, harmonious acidity helps lift and extend the nectarine and green apple nuances on the long, light-on-its-feet finish. Lovely wine. From 60-year-old vines grown in four parcels, each roughly 0.13 hectares in size (actually, Jean Boxler pointed out to me that some of the vines are in fact over 75 years old). No matter how low the density they are planted at or how virused they may be, there’s just a magic to what old vines can give in a glass, and this wine demonstrates that magic well
