The fruit for the 2019 Johnson Family Cabernet comes from certified sustainable vineyards located in the Alexander Valley AVA. The area, north of Healdsburg in Sonoma County, enjoys a growing season characterized by warm days and cool nights, conditions well-suited for producing lush reds, characterized by their healthy acidity and silky tannins. This 100% cabernet wine is traditionally made and aged several months in new oak before release. Alison Crowe, the winemaker, has long experience making quality wines in California including stints at Bonny Doon and Chalone Vineyards.
Our popular “private label” Johnson Family Cabernet Sauvignon has remained a consistent favorite over the years with our team, with our customers and most importantly, with wine drinkers. We try several different cuvees from multiple sources so that we can feel confident putting our name on the back label. It must also include sustainable vineyard practices and come in at a fair price. This year’s cuvee checks all of those boxes and is one of the best Johnson Cabs we’ve ever released.
