Clos Venturi 'Brama' Corse Syrah P.738 2021
$42.00
Clos Venturi’s story begins with Domaine Vico, a breathtaking estate located at the crossroads of roads to Bastia, Ajaccio, and Calvi. Purchased by Jean-Marc Venturi during the 1980s, this unique property was the only vineyard located in the center of the island of Corsica during this time. After Jean-Marc’s son, Manu, pursued studies in law and tourism in mainland France, he returned to Corsica and proposed creating a separate estate from the best vineyards of Domaine Vico to his father; in 2005, Clos Venturi was born. Today, Clos Venturi focuses on the indigenous varieties of Corsica: Vermentinu, Nielluccio, Sciaccarello, Bianco Gentile, and Genovese. The estate comprises 28 hectares of land rooted in a mosaic of soil types, with vines planted between 400 and 480 meters above sea level. All vineyards at Clos Venturi are farmed organically and biodynamically, and only native yeasts are used in the cellar. A variety of vessels, including barrels, steel tanks, and concrete eggs are used. Whites age on the lees for an average of 6-8 months (followed by 3-6 in bottle) prior to bottling, whereas reds generally age for one year in concrete and/or foudre, followed by 10 months in bottle prior to release.
