The Chiacchiera winery was founded in 2010 by the family of Emanuela Mancianti, and is located in the hills of Montepulciano in the locality of Cervognano. This area, southeast of Montepulciano, is among the most suitable for the production of wine and oil. Emanuela herself personally and meticulously follows every phase of the farming and the vineyards, leaving nothing to chance.
A mix of savory plum and cherry sauce is complemented by sweet herbs, tobacco and hints of underbrush as the darkly alluring 2016 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano comes to life in the glass. It’s rich and round in feel, with an elegant wave of red and black fruits that coast along a core of salty acids and minerals, leaving balsam herbs and fine tannins in its wake. The finale is dramatically long and youthfully structured with tart blackberry, currants and a bitter twang of coffee grinds. There’s a fully acceptable hint of rusticity here, yet it only further complements the expression. The 2016 is a classic Tuscan blend of 85% Sangiovese with equal parts Mammolo and Canaiolo.
