Bruno Clair set up an eponymous estate in France established in 1979 with vineyard holdings spread all over the area. Half of the vines are a century old. Bruno Clair, a true vigneron, has the expertise needed to reinvent this area better than anyone and his Marsannay wines are very elegant and long-lasting. His respect for the terroir and the stylistic precision of his wines makes him one of the best producers in Burgundy.
In French, the top of the bedrock is called the head. Les Grasses-Têtes, which translates to "fat heads", is traditionally the biggest of the Marsannay wines from Bruno Clair, in both fruit and structure. It iscomplex, elegant, relatively big-bodied, and well balanced with firm tannins and great acidity. The fruit forward palate supplies flavors of cherry, red currant, spice, forest floor, earth, and blackberry with soft tones of barrel. A good match for the Thanksgiving turkey but will also match up to a grilled sirloin steak.
