One would be hard pressed to find a better value in the Grand Crus of the Cote des Blancs in Champagne than 'Les Quatre Terroirs' from Champagne Pertois-Moriset. Sourced from their considerable holdings in the villages of Chouilly, Cramant, Oger, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and vinified in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak, this is a textbook example of Chardonnay at its most elegant. Following 10 months of primary fermentation, winemaker Vincent Bauchet ages the wine a minimum of 3 years on the lees before disgorgement. The resulting wine is redolent with crisp apricot and yellow citrus and the finish is long and fine. What impresses most is the sense of delicate salinity here, from the chalky soils that make Champagne unique.
Situated in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Champagne Pertois-Moriset, has from the beginning been a family business and thus independently owned. Grower-producers: each new generation has been nourished through the tradition and the knowledge of the vine and the wine of those who came before.
The House’s history began through the marriage between Yves Pertois and Janine Moriset, the son and daughter of two ancient winemaking families in the Côte de Blancs. In 1951, the couple decided to create the brand Pertois-Moriset, which continued to develop as their son Dominique and his wife Florence joined the House.
Today: The House is managed by their granddaughter Cécile and her husband Vincent.
