Domaine Clos de la Chapelle 'Les Vignes Blanches' Meursault 2022

$150.00

Les Vignes Blanches owes its name to the gravelly white limestone soil of the vineyard.

As a result of the soil, the wine has more minerality and tension than is typical of this part of the slope, sitting below a little rocky knoll.

Most producers have chosen to blend this climats with others under a generic Meursault label. But our 0.41 hectare parcel is mostly from vines planted in 1948 and the result is a wine with individual character and personality.

Domaine Clos de la Chapelle has a long history that stretches back to 1865 when it was formerly known as Domaine Louis Boillot. Approximately, ten-years-ago Mark O'Connell, an American and Burgundy-lover, purchased the property with his business partners Pierre Meurgey and Philippe Remoissent of Maison Champy at the time, and re-named it. Mark's initial parcels included two holdings in Volnay, most notable the monopole 'Clos de la Chapelle' and one parcel in Pommard. With the acquisition of nine additional parcels, the Domaine now totals four hectares with 11 different vineyard plots and an average annual production of 1500 cases. Under the leadership of vineyard manager Frédéric Gaillard and technical director Coralie Allexant-Maniere, formerly of Méo-Camuzet, they practice organic viticulture using biodynamic techniques with the goal of producing the best expression of terroir from each of the small parcels.
