This wonderful wine has a deep purple colour. The robust and expressive nose begins with abundant scents of crushed red berries and cherries, which evolve into aromas of dried tobacco leaf. The mineral graphite overtones of pencil lead add to the characteristic style of this Pauillac wine. Juicy, generous, and strong, the wine envelopes the palate with its large and full-bodied texture, which is supported by tannins with a fine grain. The finish is both lasting and refreshing. A red grand vin from Pauillac promising a wonderful evolution in the next years, foreshadowing a fantastic wine from the start.
Spring’s high rains delivered an unusual amount of mildew, which was exacerbated by storms. The glorious sunny and dry summer that arrived in July caused water stress in the vines. Despite these problems, the fruit ripened well, and the harvest produced fruit that foretold a magnificent wine from the start. 2018 will surely be remembered as a spectacular year at the Grand Cru Classé Pauillac, located on Bordeaux’s left bank – Château Croizet-Bages.
