Domaine Roland Lavantureux is the most reliable of the old reliables. Roland is notorious for his no-nonsense personality. One of the best examples of this is in a quote to Kermit himself: “I don’t know why the INAO named some vines ‘Chablis’ and others ‘Petit.’ When I stand in the middle of my vineyard, the row to my left is Chablis, to the right it is Petit Chablis, but you can’t see any difference.” With this mentality, his ability to remain consistent in quality to both Chablis and Petit Chablis is unparalleled. Today, Roland’s two sons have taken over the domaine; Arnaud has taken the task of vines and cellar while David takes the lead in marketing and sales.
The vines for this Chablis come from several sites averaging about thirty years old. The wine is fermented and aged mostly in stainless steel, though 30% of the wine is aged in neutral barrels. This Chablis is meant to be fruity and fresh; the ideal aperitif!
